Jo Edwards retired from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in September 2022 at the rank of Superintendent, after 30 years’ service specialising in the field of public order and public safety events, command and control.
She took leadership responsibility and roles for many large public order, ceremonial and sporting events including the State Opening of Parliament, Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Brexit related protest, Premier League football matches, Notting Hill Carnival and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Jo’s last five years were served on the MPS Taskforce, with responsibility for specialist teams including the Territorial Support Group, Dog Support, Marine Policing and Mounted Branch.
In her role as a commander of some of the largest and most high-profile public and security events in London, Jo developed significant experience in strategic and tactical planning, command, control & coordination, risk mitigation, dynamic problem solving, with a proven ability to engage and communicate across a broad range of partners, agencies and audiences.
Jo is now a senior associate with Colin Morgan Consulting Ltd, specialising in senior-level testing and exercising and developing strategic leaders in relation to command, control and coordination. Jo is also a safety and security advisor for the Premier League.
In the King’s Birthday Honours list in June 2023, Jo was awarded the King’s Police Medal (KPM) for distinguished police service.
